It's a very catchy phrase. It sounds great in a speech. It makes for great commercials. It sounds like an awesome slogan. It even elicits amens in sunny Springfield, MO (see the "town hall" speech on YouTube by clicking here). I wonder what change looks like though. It seems politics and all of its practices makes plenty of promises. There are things being promised on both sides of the fence. "Change" is in the air. I wonder if it's what we really want though. I wonder if we really want change. We know something has to change, but the change we are promised has no guarantee of being better. In fact, it could get substantially worse. It could get really bad. Really really bad. Really really fast. Change sounds great but sometimes change is ugly. The country we look at isn't as great as we have seen it but it isn't nearly as bad as it could be. I'm not sure I'm buying into the change but we have no choice about where it goes. Everyone is promising something. Buckle your safety belts.
