NEW RUMBLINGS

It seems every time I get into a new book of the Bible, I am just overwhelmed as I read through it the amount of material that jumps out of the page at me. In my trip through Romans, it seemed each time brought a new level of understanding to some things that I have read over and over again. Today I started 1 Corinthians up and can I just say...WHOA! It's amazing what can happen when you take it in one swoop and it has completely blown me away. It seems that I can't stop myself from finding portion after portion that is rich with material. I'm going to give the nod to favorite portion to this one :
1 Corinthians 3:3 (ESV)
...for while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?
We all know behaving according to the flesh and "the human way" are not things looking upon positively by the Bible. To behave in this way is often cited as regressing to a previous lifestyle and is often considered forfeiting the life you have inherited. For those of us who live according to the Spirit, we cannot regress to live according to the flesh or the human way, otherwise we are no longer living in the Spirit. How many times do we try to weave our way in and out of Spirit and flesh, convinced that we have both?! How many times do we behave according to the flesh and think that we can easily navigate our way back into the Spirit? Have we been missing it the whole time and not even known it?!
For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way? Seems to me like the Church has some cleanup to do. Jealousy and strife seem more synonymous to the Church than foreign intruders. Are we not still behaving only in a human way? May we
Give thanks to God always because of the grace of God that was given to us in Christ Jesus, that in every way we were enriched in Him in all speech and all knowledge - even as the testimony about Christ was confirmed among us - so that we are not lacking in any spiritual gift, as we wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor 1:4-7).
