ARROGANT AMERICA

This morning I was listening to the local conservative radio station in between ESPN radio. I just so happened to tune in when a caller called with the following statement.

"Hey [radio show host]. I wanted to bring something to your attention. There is a recent outbreak of salmonella and they have widespread cases around the country. Salmonella usually comes from a common source but these are in a couple different places. Now I've heard that Al Qaeda has said they wanted to start infiltrating schools and stuff to try some chemical warfare. I think that's what this is. We might not see any people die from it, but I think this is a terrorist attack."

Ughh. AND THE HOST AGREED! (Typical far right. I'm not a crazy "leftist" or anything like but I think the above is a little ridiculous) Don't get me wrong. I don't deny the ever persistent threat level orange, terrorist activty or the possibility of other attacks but I think it's a little bit overboard to begin to assume that every event in America is linked to terrorist activity. You may call me naive. I'm ok with that. But to say that Al Qaeda is experimenting all across the country with salmonella gives undeserved credit. I'm open for discussion on the issue. My main thought is that to assume that every time somoene hits the toilet with a little bit of sickness is a terrorist attack confirms the argument that world has spoken of the world. On a new show that debuted on ABC, What Would You Do, a French national made the following statement "The world revolves around them but they are idiots." If the above is any indication, I would have to agree.

Ridiculous. Also, I enjoyed your article, I saw that you had already sent it in to the editor so I didn't forward any corrections to you, but I'm pumped for you.

Thanks Mike. Let's hope it all works out. I'm kinda nervous and have a hard time letting it hit or miss. I just want to "make it happen." Here's to stepping out onto new ledges.
