While listening to the radio yet again, I heard the following statement :

"Gun owners are 43 times more likely to have their gun kill a family member or themselves than an intruder."

I hope that makes sense how I said it. Basically, YOUR gun is going to end up shooting YOU or YOUR family more than it will be used against an intruder or attacker (the purpose of defense). I'm not abdicating gun control or saying we need to modify that (my blog reading, gun totting Grandma would lay the smack down if I did). I guess I'm just surprised by it the finding. When searching for some more info with gun sites, the statistics come from fatalities due to weapons. Obviously this can't include intruders scared away or deterred by gun owners or injured as a result. Just an interesting fact to think about.
