MOVIE REVIEW : HANCOCK

I never considered myself a superhero man. I was into Ninja Turtles and Voltron than I was with Batman, Spiderman or Superman (though I was a Gambit fan, something about exploding playing cards). The superhero buzz that has developed all of the above movies has given me new information that I never had before (you also find out how big of nerds some of your friends were. Ohhh how time can heal all wounds). Hancock was something I stumbled upon only because of all the buzz and the fact that Will Smith is awesome. What Mark Walberg has been unable to do, Will Smith has done. Be a notorious 90s rapper and transition to TV and movies and not be lame. Yes, Mark Walhberg is lame. Hancock is described as the post-modern Superman. What would happen if there was a different take. You make him a drunk who sleeps on the streets and has no regard for people, this is what you get :

I can say that when Will Smith threw that kid in the air and referred to his friend as thickness and goggles, I died laughing. I watched it three times. Rachel laughed more only because I was weezing. Look how easily entertained I am...Though the movie has its thrills and spills, the triumph of humanity (or alien species with awesome superpowers) and humor, I was surprised by the amount of language that was allowed. It seemed like every bit of dialogue had multiples and it makes me wonder what it takes for a movie to be R based on language. Apparently you need more F bombs. Either way, if you are into superheros or Will Smith, you will probably like this movie. Good fun (though not clean) and you'll most likely find yourself laughing a lot. One mission I have taking away from this movie, more Jason Bateman. Dry humor gets me every time.

Hancock : B+
