ABOUT OUR INTERNSHIP pt 1

I've had some questions recently about out internship for students 6th-12th Grade here at Hope and within The Factory. This week, I will walk through our Summer Internship (beginning) and Spring Internship (future). First, I have to start by saying that the idea came from two people:
First, one of our students, Brooke Agee, asked last summer if she would be able to come by the church during the week and help to get ready for services and help around the office. That was the easiest yes I ever said.
Second, one of our leaders, Alan Fay, asked if he could intern during the summer as part of his continuing ministry development. Again, one of the easiest yes(es) I have ever said.
With the two of them, we decided to create something more substantial and worthwhile for Alan to lead, Brooke to be apart of, and to invite other students to join. I called my buddy, Jared Newman, to get some ideas and we were off to the races.
Our main emphasis has been in leadership development and further developing one of our key missions: "Lifelong commitments to Christ." With that in mind, our internship wasn't developed to pass time or occupy students during the summer (nothing against those), but we wanted to utilize the summer as a chance to further develop our students and do more with them during the week than we were ever able to do during the school year.
Tomorrow, we'll look at the schedule and what the week looked like.
