MOVIE REVIEW : THE STRANGERS

I have to start by saying that I am in no way a horror movie guy. I don't enjoy them. I don't think they're entertaining. I don't see why you would watch them because nothing good happens afterwards. With all that in mind, I saw this trailer and I was intrigued.
The cinematography got me. It was shadows. Emerging bodies. Cool music. As a movie watcher, I was hooked. I made the mistake of saying to Rachel that I wanted to watch it. An opportunity came up for us to go see it and she said (and I quote) "You talk a lot of game." There is no way I could back down from that. Therefore we went. And I have to say, there was part of me that enjoyed it, but I could never watch it again. Does that make sense?
What I wanted, I got. What I didn't want, I didn't get. It wasn't a slasher. It was gruesome. It was graphic. It was INTENSE! It was heart pounding, leg grabbing intense. Complete with an "OH MY GOD" out loud from Rachel. It was good. But I came out of it feeling like nothing good came of it. The benefit to my life = zero. Some would say that's the way it is every time you go to the movies. I disagree (see below for a for instance). The life of Justin was not made better after having seen this flick. But it did make my heart pound. I did (in as non-masculine a way as possible) grab the heck out of Rachel's leg at one point and did have moments that took my breath away. If you're a horror movie fan, you'll probably like this. If you REALLY enjoy movies, you may like this. If you wanna waste money, you could do this. That's about as good as it gets. If you're a Netflix, renter kind of person, this could be up your alley. Final score time.
