MOVIE REVIEW : THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL

To start, I am an action / suspense guy. I usually need something to keep me interested instead of following some usually "mellow" drama. This movie was a choice of Rachel and since she has so graciously watched some that I wanted (Congo, Cloverfield, Tango & Cash), I decided to go along. The story is that of Anne and Mary Boleyn and what happens in their lives in connection with Henry VIII. A love triangle like this does not happen in novels. It seems that it can only be left in the pages of history (and then someone writes an obscure novel about it, later becoming a movie).
The question I ask myself is should the world last another 500 years (and that is an if), do you think people will make historical fiction about our lives and wonder what on God's earth we were thinking. Some of the actions within the movie are so crazy that I wonder how a human could conceive it, yet alone act upon it. Being 500 years removed allows me such a privilege. However, not being afforded the privilege of hindsight in our own lives, what actions do we do as a nation or as a world that people will soon make movies (or whatever form of communication they have by then, if ever) and will look distastefully upon (my bet is our eating habits)? It is intriguing. But I wonder if we thought about our actions based upon the witness of history (and the truth of the Bible), would we act the way we do?
Most movies don't make me think this way (explosions are too deep philosophically). Thus way The Other Boleyn Girl gets the rating it does. If you enjoy drama, you'll enjoy this. Plus Eric Bana puts the whop down on multiple occasions.
The Other Boleyn Girl : B+
