IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK

This weekend put a conclusion on one portion of what has comprised a very busy fall. My wedding is obviously the most important event this year (and it's in 12 days. Yowzah!) but there have been many others along the way. This weekend, we took our students to Windermere in Lake of the Ozarks (Roach, MO to be exact. Appealing I know!) for 210. My friend Chris Smith and I have partnered together for years now on this fall retreat and it has become something that we both look forward to each year.
This year was something interesting because of what seems to be the never ending series of bumps in the road. We've gone through the motions of camp with expectations of expansion and each year it seems like it doesn't happen. I didn't see myself as a conference guy when I got involved in all this, it just kinda happened. Just like always though, in the moments when it seems like "it could have been better", God continues to show just how awesome He truly is. We scaled back a lot of what we have done in the past and just went for it. We had a great band, Freely, and a phenomenal speaker, Andy Estrella (good freind with Chris and I). In this these guys, we were able to have an extra set of leaders to our students who were taking each moment to impact our kids. They were great! Our students were able to be a part of powerful services (no matter how loud they were...) and were able to experience Jesus, including two giving their lives to Christ. It's great to see God use moments when your expected something different and completely blow the walls of them (as if you should have had them anyway). I had a great time hanging with the students of Epic and People's Church and they joy is always mine to share time with the students of theBURN. They are the best students on the planet!
