MOVIE REVIEW : RUN FAT BOY RUN

In my list of actors I love, Simon Pegg is one of those guys. I've followed him in a lot of his endeavors and namely for his "spot on" parodies of summer blockbuster movies. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz were movies that I laughed throughout because he was making of mockery of both horror and action movies while maintaining all of the necessary elements. Timely music. Revolving camera shots. Overblown action (including a gun wielding priest and the fact that even opening a door can be dramatic). They have been great and have made me want to watch everything that he makes for the shear craziness of it all.

In his latest endeavor, Run Fat Boy Run, he tackles what seems to me to be the romantic comedy. Leaving his pregnant girlfriend at the altar of their wedding, he decides to run a marathon to win her back. The tagline "Love. Commitment. Responsibility. There's nothing he can't run away from." Sounds like an all around winner right? The best part is that it could be an actual movie with a reral premise and you would never know the difference. I think it's the British accents and their witty sayings. Maybe it's that everything is blown out of proportion. Or it could be that is simply awesome. Check it out if you are looking for a laugh.
