I thought it would be fun to give some updates on some books I am reading. While on the honeymoon and sitting on the beach, I was able to make some good ground on a book called Jesus for President. My best review so far is that the book is so so. I'm a big fan of Shane Claiborne. I thought The Irresistible Revolution was amazing and it has been one of my favorite and most challenging reads in a long time. However, Jesus for President isn't quite getting to that level. Maybe I wasn't focused enough or wasn't reading clearly but it seems like the book is ALL over the place. I don't know what that is, but it doesn't seem to have any coherent thought except for random statements about Jesus and whatever topics may have come to mind. I've noticed a disturbing trend in a lot of Christian books that seem to go on and on and on and on in order to fulfill a publisher's demand for pages. Anybody feel like founding a publisher so we can have shorter more intentional books that all of us would care to read?
