ROUGH ECONOMY, NOT FOR THE YANKEES

Everywhere you turn it seems someone is talking about how the economy is rough, getting rougher and isn't done with it's downward spiral yet. An interesting thing has happened in sports this week. The Yankees have proved that without a shadow of a doubt, the hard time aren't hitting everyone. As I write, the Yankees are in the process of making MANY deals that reach to where only the Yankees can. They have already signed C.C. Sabbathia for 7 years $161 million, are offering 5 years and $85 million to A.J. Burnett and have slid offers towards Mark Teixeira. This is nothing new. The Yankees have been sliding money to free agents to "upgrade" their roster every year since I can remember (just like the Red Wings and for everyone but Yankees / Red Wings fans, we rejoice when they lose because of it). Why would this be worth blogging about? All of these "big deals" come while the Yankees are asking for $400 million in tax exempt bonds from the city of New York and it's tax payers. Not a big deal right? Nothing to worry about! I can't decide that. I'm not a New Yorker (or New Yowker). IF I was though, I don't even know what I would do. The Yankees will have acquired over 1 billion in New Yorker money. Apparently, the economy isn't THAT bad. Or it is...
