Many students are finding life hard to balance. School. Sports. Clubs. Homework. Trips. Events. Friends. Family. Boyfriend / Girlfriend. Hobbies. Fun. Work. Sleep. Repeat.
After graduating from high school over 8 years ago. Allow me to tell you some things that won't matter.
- The number of sports you played.
- That you were involved in...
- That you went on [blank] trip.
- You worked at...
- You made money at your job.
- You were popular and had lots of friends.
- You slept only four hours every night.
- You dated so and so.
- You had lots of friends on Facebook.
- That thing you're involved in that takes up lots of your time.
One thing that will matter: "I knew Christ and made Him known."
I want you to hear me when I talk about what won't matter. You need to do your homework. You need to be involved in school. You should play sports if you want to. You should work a job if you need to. I was prepared to be enrolled in a school that valued all of the above. Hear this: None of that should come at the expense of your relationship with Christ and your relationship with your family.
Students: seek time to be with your parents. Connect with a church and youth ministry that will disciple you, not just entertain you. Be
Parents: balance the life of your students as you see fit. You're still the parent. You can decide their schedules. Prioritize discipleship.
