NICKEL AND DIMEING

This is one of those phrases that has made it's way full circle in culture. Whenever your scrounging for change, you find yourself nickel and dimeing. Whenever the McChicken value meal is a couple cents off, you're nickel and dimeing. I heard a rapper (who loved Jesus) ask the question, why I am nickel and dimeing and Chingy's got a deal. That will make you wonder. Today, I found myself nickel and dimeing. The financial state of my life is fine. All that is good. I filled up on some gas this morning and when I drove down the road, I saw a gas station that was .05 less than where I filled up at. My first reaction was to regret that I missed it. Do you ever find yourself doing that? The pump is a couple cent less down the road and you wish you would have held out? Even if it's a dime less, do you realize it takes 10 gallons for you to save a dollar?! We rarely care about the dollar elsewhere. We rarely care about nickels and dimes elsewhere. But when we get to the gas pump, whether it's a couple of cents or a larger amount, we want to make sure we are getting our money's worth. With increasing gas prices, we feel even better about ourselves, when we find the "value" in town. Interesting that we can throw quarters to the wind, but we can wait in line for minutes to save .05 per gallon.
